10 of 52 Demons

Above are 10 of the 52 Demons I have to make for my illustration 4 class. they are rough drafts. I will be going back in and building up some depth and contrast in them. I may scrap some, clean them up for sure. I have to pace my self though. this is only 10 of the total 52 that must be done. I used some overlay textures i made with acrylic. I fell it looks good for a start.

  1. Dude these are looking pretty sick!

My only concern is that they won't look distinct enough from one another as different demons. But 1) we're obviously just starting so it's not done and 2) a lot of distinction can come from digital handling.

    So sweet action man.

  3. I like the texture of the paper on these sketches. I think it should really be integrated into the final ones. Also, the subtle play of the numbers inside the demons is nice too.

  4. ALEX I love yours. They remind me of the movie Mirrormask for some reason. I really like the colors in the first two the best, and how they look old and like they were written in old rotted books and such.

  5. The creatures mimicing the numbers is a really good idea! I think the texture play is really interesting. The thick bodies with little thin legs looks cool as well

  6. I love these, I don't think you should put too much more detail...if anything, add a bit more contrast between the demons and the background. The line work is looking great, I don't think you need to adjust anything there. I can't wait to see moooore.

  7. i really like the textures and the colors. they give a really nice organic feel. the figure orientation to make numbers is a really clever approach. i feel like you should push the contrast of the demons from the backgrounds just to give them a little more "pop". you could do that by altering the width or color of your lines or brightening (or darkening) the creatures bodies for contrast.

  8. I agree with Elliot. I think the colors and textures are nice, but the demons all look very similar. I'm ok with them belonging to the same "family" but there need to be distinct differences. Maybe some have horns or scars. Maybe one or two are missing limbs or have WAY more limbs than the rest. What are they demons of? Once you give them context it will be easier to give them distinct features.
